A Little Inspiration

I love flipping through magazines and finding things that inspire me.  I picked up the last issue of Domino magazine when I was in the Las Vegas airport and I came across this wonderful interior that I would love to replicate in my house…I even have a wall piano I need to have painted.  A little side story on the piano…I remember piano shopping with my dad, brother and sister when I was in the first grade and I remember all of the beautiful pianos in the showroom and for some reason my dad insisted on the piano we ended up buying and I told him I didn’t like the color of the wood and could we please pick something prettier.  haha, I was picky about finishes at a VERY early age.  Well, the piano is now mine since my brother and sister don’t ever play and now I can finally paint it something I like.  Anyways,  I love all of the mix and match books and of course the map where you mark all of the places you’ve been.  I need to clear some time out to do some of these ideas in my house.  I’m going to start posting things on my blog that inspire me, so check back to see what I find next.

jesskamm - Does anybody know where I can find a cool map??

kendrick - my friend Lyla has them all over her ceiling in the living room... I'll ask her where she got them and if she has anymore! I think National Geographic Magazine would be a good place to look. They have lots of pull out maps!

Abby Wilkinson - Hey Jess, I do the same with magazines. I know that my husband got a free world map from National Geographic with our subscription. Happy hunting and I look forward to seeing your new inspirations as well.

Steve Hinkle - I've had great luck finding some reproduction vintage maps on Ebay. Many times they are printed on high quality paper and shipped in a roll so you don't have to deal with folds. They're also pretty cheap, so you're not out much $$ if it doesn't look as you imagined it.

jesskamm - Thanks, I'll check it out!!

robin marshall - Jess, Hit your Aunt Nola up for her map. She has agreat one in the shop. Its like a old school room map, it's awesome. I'm sure she'll give you a good price.

jesskamm - Thanks for the tip! I'll try to take a look on Monday.
